For over eighty years the LMMC has been meeting in central London to sing and appreciate the rich repertory of sixteenth- and seventeenth-century madrigals and sacred music.  We sing for our own enjoyment, much as our predecessors did in Elizabethan times.  A reasonable level of sight-reading is needed from members, but a trained singing voice is not expected.  Our music director, Jonathan Rennert, guides the singers gently but purposefully, knowledgeably and with a sense of humour.  We sing generally without accompaniment.
  
You are welcome to come to your first meeting for no charge.  Thereafter you will be asked to pay either a charge per meeting attended, currently £12, or an annual subscription of £65. These rates will be updated at our AGM - see below.  If you have your own copies of the music we are singing, listed on our Programme Page, please bring them; but there are generally Club copies which can be borrowed for the evening.  Most members have their own copies of the Oxford books. Each year we work for a few months on a mass - this year we have chosen Victoria's O Magnum mysterium.

​THIS IS WHERE AND WHEN WE MEET
​

Saturday meetings (which normally begin at 6.30 and end at 8.30pm, with a break for refreshments at about 7.30) are usually held in the Vestry of St Michael’s Church, Cornhill EC3V 9DS, in the City of London.  The nearest stations are Bank and Monument, and the church is walkable from Liverpool Street, Fenchurch Street, Moorgate, Cannon Street, London Bridge and City Thameslink stations.  Many buses stop nearby.  You are strongly advised not to drive to meetings, unless you are familiar with the stringent parking regulations in the City. If you arrive after we have closed the front door, take the path to the right of the church, turn first left and then walk into the garden behind the church. Walk up to the first door on the right and knock loudly. You'll hear us singing! If we don't answer, ring 07557 216579.
